What's in a name?

First things first: why even start a blog? I mean, it's a big commitment and there are already plenty of good blogs out there about project management and collaboration technology. Leigh and I thought about this for a while and decided that there wasn't a blog around on the issues we wanted to discuss. Things like how good information management can really help keep a construction project on track. In our business, we get to work with thousands of projects around the world. We see first hand some of the latest techniques that are making projects a success, which we find fascinating and we're sure other people can benefit from hearing about.

So we wanted to create a place to discuss some good industry practices and, along the way, share some of our stories about running a business. When thinking of a name for the blog we kept coming back to the word collaboration. After many false starts (are there any domain names left out there??) we settled on Built on Collaboration. In a nutshell, it reflects that both construction projects and our own business are built by collaboration between people.

So there you go, that's why we've started this blog. We hope that it occasionally informs, entertains and (especially) provokes discussion.
